I totally agree - we're doing home churches in Denver and whenever I try to explain it to a churchy type I get this look like "you guys have really gone off the deep end, I'm adding you to my prayer list" It's simply a fear of the unknown -- and never having been told that church isn't a building with a pastor, a podium, and pews -- people assume anything other than that must be "wrong" Keep up the good work! Go with the power of Christ my friend, my fellow bro, go.... set up the outpost and bring people in, and "live" in that "project".
